Silica
Silica (also named Quartz gravel), plays an important role in the production of hot metal (liquid iron) and liquid steel in the blast furnace process. It alsoused as protective coating in the steel gutters and in the blast furnace process. Silica content of slag during production of hot metal is in the range of 29 % to 38 % while it is in the range of 12 % to 19 % in the steel-making slag.
