Ferro Chrome
Ferrochrome is one of the main types of ferroalloy, mainly used as alloy additivesin steel making. Among them, stainless steel and special steel are the main consumption sources of ferrochrome. Ferrochrome is classified into high-carbon ferrochrome, medium-carbon ferrochrome, low-carbon ferrochrome, and micro-carbon ferrochrome according to different carbon content.
The main uses of high-carbon ferrochrome are: as an alloying agent for ball steel, tool steel and high-speed steel which with high carbon content, to improve the hardenability of steel and increase the wear resistance and hardness of steel; Used as an additive for cast iron to improve the wear resistance and hardness of cast iron, andmake cast iron has good heat resistance at the same time; Used as chromium containing raw material for the production of silicon-chromium alloy and medium, low, and micro-carbon ferrochrome by slag-free method; Used as chromium containing raw material for producing metallic chromium by electrolysis; Used as raw material for smelting stainless steel by oxygen blowing method.
Low and medium-carbon ferrochrome is used to produce special steels such as medium and low-carbon structural steel, chromium steel, and alloy structural steel. Low-carbon ferrochrome must be used to smelt low-carbon steels such as stainless steel. Micro-carbon ferrochrome is mainly used to produce stainless steel, acid-resistant steel and heat-resistant steel.
